Born in Amarillo, Texas and raised in
Waynoka, Oklahoma, country music is in Rodney Smith's blood.
By living and performing in Branson, Rodney is fulfilling
his lifelong dream to have a wonderful family and
play music for a living - and still be home every night.
Rodney plays a wide variety of
instruments, including fiddle, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin
and even baritone tuba - in addition to being a talented
vocalist. His lively performances are a big part of what
makes the Joey Riley show such a Branson favorite.
Rodney began his musical career
at the young age of 10, and has since shared the stage
with many renowned performers including Gary P. Nunn, Jr. Brown,
Leon McAuliffe, Hank Thompson, Marsha Thornton, Roy
Clarke, Moe Bandy, Barbara Fairchild and, of course,
Joey Riley!
His music has been influenced
and inspired by such artists as Gary Smith (Dad), Bob
Wills, Johnny Gimble, Eldon Shamblin, Stephane Grapelli,
Django Reinhart, Joe Venuti and Mark O'Connor.
Rodney shares his home with
wife, Christy, 2 daughters; Kylie and Chelsea, and
Smudge, the family dog.
